Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft mbH (Agricultural Market Information Company), Bonn, Germany

Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft mbH (Agricultural Market Information Company) is a market information provider for all participants of the agricultural food chain. It was founded in 2009 after the close down of ZMP: a semi public entity working for 59 years in the field of market intelligence for agricultural markets. The AMI is set up as a limited company (GmbH). The main shareholders are agricultural publishing companies and all major associations of agriculture (e.g. Farmers Union, Union of Agricultural Marketing Cooperatives etc). All employees previously worked at ZMP and have thus a working experience of many years in the field of collecting and analyzing market data. Markets of organic products have been thoroughly followed since the early 1990s.

The staff working in the unit for organic products is used to collect and to analyse quantitative market data such as weighted prices, cultivated areas, production and stocks. The information panels are stable over the years and provide the sector with reliable market data on a regular basis. Reporting is focused on up-to-date information, background reports, analyses and prognoses regarding the evaluation of the short-term to long-term market developments. AMI is focusing on the producer side as well as on the consumer side. In a project in the national program for organic farming (BOELN) AMI,  together with FiBL and FleXinfo, developed a database and analysing tools for collecting and analysing organic farming data such as production, land use, livestock number, sales values.
